Day 1

Journey to Wenchi Crater Lake (300 km Adventure)

Embark on a captivating journey commencing at 7.00 am, steering 150 kilometers west from Addis Ababa to the stunning Wenchi Crater Lake. Perched at an elevation of 3000 meters (10,000 feet) within the crater of an extinct volcano in the Oromo Region, this natural marvel promises a day of exploration and breathtaking vistas.

Upon reaching the Wenchi Eco-Tourism Office, our journey continues uphill, providing us with an opportunity to choose between a leisurely walk or an adventurous horse ride for the 4-kilometer descent to the lake shore. En route, soak in the scenic beauty of the surrounding hillsides, passing through quaint villages that offer a glimpse into local life.

As we reach the tranquil lake edge, a small jetty area welcomes us. Awaiting on the island of Deber is a monastery accessible by rowing boat, adding a touch of mystery and spirituality to our adventure. A delightful picnic lunch precedes our exploration of the monastery, setting the stage for our return journey to the vehicle and the drive back to Addis Ababa.

Day 2 (optional)

(OPTIONAL): Lakeside Camping Extravaganza
