Day 1
Aerial Adventure to Gondar and Enchanting Sankaber Expedition
Embark on a thrilling journey as you land in Addis Ababa and seamlessly transition to a domestic flight destined for Gondar. Once in Gondar, our team will warmly greet you for an exhilarating drive to Sankaber, passing through Debark to handle National Park formalities and gather essential staff.
As you step out at Buyit Ras, a captivating 3-4 hours hike to Sankaber awaits, treating you to mesmerizing views of the escarpment ridge, with chances to spot the unique gelada baboons. At Sankaber, our driver bids farewell until the final day, promising a seamless return to Gondar.
Day 2
Trekking from Sankaber to Gich (3,600m): A Highland Odyssey
Embark on a 5-6 hour trek from Sankaber (3,250m) to Gich (3,600m), traversing through Erica heather-clad landscapes resembling an old man’s white beard. The journey unfolds with encounters of the elusive klipspringer and a spectacular view of the Jinbar waterfall.
A descent to the Jinbar River, a picnic lunch, and an ascent to the village of Gich, known for its traditional thatched huts, offer a cultural immersion. The trail then meanders through moorland, introducing highland flora and giant lobelia before arriving at the enchanting Gich Camp.
Day 3
Imet Gogo and Two Peaks Circuit: A Visual Feast
Embark on a 4-5 hour trek to Imet Gogo viewpoint (3,926m), witnessing Ethiopia’s highest mountain, Ras Dejen, in the distance. Traverse the Afro-alpine meadow to Lobelia Valley and reach the Saha viewpoint (3,785m) for lunch with breathtaking gorge and rock tower views.
Continue to Kedadit viewpoint (3,760m) before a downhill stroll to Gich campsite, reveling in the day’s visual marvels.
Day 4
Gich to Chennek (3,600m): Summiting Peaks and Birdwatching Haven
Embark on a 7-8 hour trek, ascending through Afro-alpine meadows, descending with views of the gorge, and ascending to the highest point at Inateye (4,070m). Marvel at bird species, including tawny eagles and lammergeyers, with panoramic views of Imet Gogo summit.
Descend to camp, keeping an eye out for the walia ibex and gelada baboons at Kurbetemetaya.
Day 5
Homeward Bound with Gondar and Addis Ababa Highlights
